Cancer is just no fun....

Ok family. We need to have a talk. I would like us all to stay cancer free. I'm sure y'all would like that too. I'm not sure if you know I had a breast cancer scare last Christmas and I have an ongoing battle with skin cancer. Not to worry, that is not why I'm writing this. One of the simple ways to keep cancer at bay is Vitamin D. But (you think to yourself) I get plenty of sunshine...after all...I live in Florida, Las Vegas, Nebraska or Kentucky. Oh no. Even those who don't live up here in the land of 9 month winters need MORE. I have great respect for those who eat such a balanced diet that they don't need to take supplements (Uncle Ted)...however, it is nearly impossible to get all the Vitamin D you need without them. (Liquid supplements are best as long as your on your way to get some...) In addition to the (I'm sure healthy) choices you are making now. Please add the following to your life...

SALMON: I'm the first to call "ewwwww" on this one. If you can eat it, do
MILK: Most milk is fortified with the magic "D", but check.
READY TO EAT CEREAL: Maybe not Lucky Charms, but the good stuff like Total.
EGGS: Yep, it's the yolk. Your days of egg white omelets are over (hooray! did anyone actually like those?!?!)
LIVER: Gross. See Salmon
SWISS CHEESE: No I don't know why it's only Swiss. Does it really matter?

I love you family. Be healthy.

Great & informative post, thanks a lot. It is ironic that you can get vitamin D from the sun, but that is also what can give you the skin cancer. I appreciate the tips though!

Awesome post...except for how could you live where you do and not like Salmon? It's delicious - you need another go at it!
Thanks for the tips - I'm the WORST when it comes to eating healthy, except for the occasional salmon I guess, so it's always good to know what's actually good for me - besides the slurpee and chips I have for lunch! ;)
